EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF PROJECT VISION TO SPEAK
On Tuesday, June 18, 2024, Darrah Kauhane will be the speaker at the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset meeting. Kauhane is the Executive Director of Project Vision and the director of the Pu`uhonua O Nene Shelter for the houseless on Maui.
Kauhane, grew up on Oahu and attended Iolani School, holds a master’s degree in developmental and reproductive biology from the John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, a bachelor’s degree in public health and community medicine from the University of Washington. In 2021, she earned a master’s degree in public health from the University of California, Berkeley.
Project Vision Hawaii, founded in 2007, has the only mobile health screening program that provides statewide services in communities with significant access-to-care challenges related to income, lack of insurance, geographical location, or cultural conflict. This organization was the driving force behind the establishment of the Pu`honua O Nene Shelter where over 100 houseless individuals reside on Maui. Kauhane serves as the shelter director and will outline the information and details of this unique facility.
