Board member of Ho`ola ia Mauikama Disaster Long Term Recovery Group to speak at Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset meeting.

On Tuesday, June 2, 2026, Nestor Ugale, Jr. will be the speaker at the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset meeting.  The title of his presentation is "Helping Lahaina Come Home: The Role of Ho’ōla LTRG in Long-Term Recovery".  He will be joined in his presentation by LTRG Executive Director Rhonda Alexander-Monkres.

This presentation will introduce the work of this group which brings together people, resources and expertise to fill the gaps in wildfire survivor recovery.  The group unites local organizations, leaders and partners to guild Maui’s recovery from the wildfires and to coordinate and deliver support and services that survivors need to rebuild, heal, and thrive. 

Nestor Ugale, Jr. is a Lahaina, Maui native, ukulele musician, and president of the nonprofit Kaibigan ng Lahaina, which supports the Filipino community. He is actively involved in community recovery efforts, often featured in local Hawaiian media and cooking segments. He also serves on the Mayor’s Advisory Team and the Maui Economic Recovery Committee. 

 

The meeting will be held at the YMCA West Side Resource Center, located in the old Tamura’s building in Emerald Plaza. The address is 226 Kupuohi Street, Lahaina, 96761. The social period will begin at 5:00 pm; light snacks are available for purchase. The formal meeting program is scheduled from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.
